QURANIC FOODS FOWL POULTRY CHICKEN
Allah mentions “fowl” or edible birds in the Quran a number of times.
Fowl or poultry include ducks, swans, and geese. Game fowl, such as grouse, partridge, turkey or pheasant; or domesticated barnyard birds like chickens and quail.
Allah mentions “fowl” as food in Surah (chapter) Al-qi’a (Arabic: سورة الواقعة‎; Sūrat al-Wāqiʻah; “The Inevitable” or “The Event”.

It is the 56th surah (chapter) of the Quran.

Muslims believe this chapter surah was revealed in Makkah.

The total number of verses in this surah are 96.

The main topic of this surah the afterlife according to Islam, and the different outcome destiny that people will face in it.

So in chapter 56 verse 21 Allah talks about the foods of paradise, the afterlife for the believers and this includes “fowl” or “poultry”.

He says,

“And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.”

The fact that fowl are mentioned in the context of paradise illustrates their high significance in terms of nutrition.

We are aware that factory farmed meat is not the same as organic free range but are we aware that halal slaughter is more healthy than stunning?

Chicken is part of the group of poultry birds and is nutritious meat.

Boiling a chicken to make a soup stock, then roasting it is something I learnt from a sister called Iman. I have since decided to season the chicken overnight  and then boil and roast.

The  temperament of chicken  is hot and dry; it strengthens the mind and increase production of sperm according to Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah (ra).
He goes on to say in his books of prophetic medicine, (medicine used in the lifetime of prophet Muhammad salah lahu alaihi wa salem),
That chicken makes the minds stronger, the voice softer and produces healthy blood. The meat of the cockerel is hotter and drier.

Chicken is suitable for blood types 0 and A but not suitable for type B and AB.

Chicken is an animal protein and is an acid forming food and needs to be balance with fruits and vegetables.
