SPICE GIRLS- cleaning my spice jars

As salaam alaikum brothers and sistars

Listening to Sheikh Tawfik Chawdry, speaking about depression on Ramadan TV, we decided to embark on cleaning the spice jars.Not a big deal you may think, but we have nearly 40 spice jars and that number is alwasy on the rise. You can turn the TV up and get on with something like this while listening to a lecture.He said the prophet Muhammed , peace be upon him, used to get depressed and was depressed because Allah hadn’t revealed any QURAN to him for 6 months and the next Surat that was revealed was Surat 93 Al Dhoha ,The Glorious Morning Light one of the Surat I actually know and love.This Surat is the Surat for depression.

Ramadhan is a great time for tackling the mundane, those things that you put off because they are borrrring! But within that boredoem is a great opportunity for pondering, as Mercy Mission like to call it, or  reflecting  on ones one weakness within the self or weakness in relation to others or things OR counting your blessings of everything that allah has blessed you with more than someone less fortunate.

 

alhamdulilahi, praise allah, I have loads of spices.

So while you ponder on your faults and blessings, we’ll get on with the mundane, this is how we do it!

STEP 1 TIP SPICES INTO PLASTIC CUPS

STEP 2 SOAK JARS AND LIDS IN SINK OR BOWL OF HOT SOAPY WATER

STEP3 USING SCOURER AND PLENTY OF WASHING UP LIQUID CLEAN GREASE AND GRIME OFF JARS AND LIDS

STEP4 PLACE BACK IN SINK IN WARM WATER AND BLEACH TO SOAK

STEP 5 RINSE, 

STEP 7 DRAIN ON DRAINING BOARD OR RACK, THEN TRANSFERR TO CLOTH, 

STEP 8 LEAVE OVERNIGHT TO THROUGHLY DRY, THEN TURN RIGHT AWAY UP TO AIR,YES I KNOW SOME STILL LOOK YELLOW BUT SO WOULD YOU IF YOU WERE HOLDING HALDI  FOR MONTHS, THESE HAVE BEEN SOAKED IN BLEACHY WATER.

STEP 9 POUR SPICE/HERBS BACK FROM PLASTIC CUP INOT JAR AND SEAL WITH LIDS

STEP 10 ALHMDULILAH NOW WE ARE BACK IN ACTION!

I DID THIS STEP BY STEP GUIDE ALSO TO ILLUSTRATE TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO THINK THE KITCHEN STAYS CLEAN BY MAGIC THAT SOME WORK DOES GO ON, MAKING THE MUNDANE LOOK EASY TAKES YEARS OF PRACTICING, ALHMDULILAH
