Sahih Bukhari 47 Book Of Gifts/Hadith 741- Narrated Urwa: Aisha said to me, “O my nephew! We used to see the crescent, and then the crescent and then the crescent in this way we saw three crescents in two months and no fire (for cooking) used to be made in the houses of Allah’s Apostle. I said, “O my aunt! Then what use to sustain you?” ‘Aisha said, “The two black things: dates and water, our neighbors from Ansar had some Manarh and they used to present Allah’s Apostle some of their milk and he used to make us drink.”
Hadith related by Yahya that states that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Beware of meat. It has addictiveness like the addictiveness of wine” (Malik)

I really have been eating too much meat lately and not even the red kind. did you know that the prophet Muhammad did not eat meat every day, not even every meat sometimes months would pass, moons would pass an there was not fire burning in his house. Some say this was because he was poor, but he was the prophet of Allah, he could have had anything he wanted, he only had to ask. This was to show us that it is not necessary to eat meat every day, we are shown examples of how meat was eaten at special occasionally like eid but there are also example s of wedding walima where the prophet Muhammad only ate dried yogurt and dates and no meat.
So back to the present day and our over eating of meat ,I decide to revert to my pre-Islamic time period where I was Rasta, vegetarian, what did I eat then ? One of the things was tofu. That squidgy white stuff form the Chinese shop or take away . It was a bit bland but you kind of put up with it as it was in a good cause. However we are now in the 21st century, internet connections all over the place and big time sharing of information, I need to do some research and get up to date with the best ways to cook tofu because seriously on its own its pretty boring.
