As salaam alaikum brothers and sistars

I was tidying out the fridge today and notice I had few things I should use up instead of throwing away.

“THE MERITS OF LICKING THE FINGERS AFTER TAKING THE FOOD AND WIPE THE DISH WITH THE FINGERS AND EATING THE FALLEN MOUTH FUL OF FOOD AFTER REMOVING THE DIRT STICKING TO IT “

The licking of the fingers is reported in  hadith  in Sahih Muslim by Ibn Abbas, Ibn Ba’b bin Malik and Abdullah bin Ka’b.

These included some old celery, you can eat but scrape off any brown bits as they are toxin. There was also some old sugar snaps and a bulb of chicory…… and one beetroot already cooked. now what goes well with chicory and beetroot???

Avocado!!!Full of fibre , good for eye health, heart health, all sorts of cancer and a vitmain E power house with great natural oils. So I bought some avocado and fresh beetroot, some reduced price salad and reduced price herbs;mint chive and coriander.hmmmm I wonder what they herbs will be like together?

So lets make a salad, here’s how………………….

WASH EVERYTHING

CLEAN ANY BROWN BITS OFF CELERY AND CHOP SMALL

FOODS OF THE NOBEL QURAN AND SUNNAH

CELERY- (karafs)

there is a haddith, though not authentic but still mentioned by Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah in Medicine of the Prophet, the haddith says that the Messenger of Allah, salah al alahi wa salem said” whoever eats karafs and sleeps upon it, sleeps with good breathe and is safe from the pain of molars and toothache”.

however the truth is that the garden variety of celery does sweetness the breathe and if the stems are wound around the neck it is beneficial for toothache…hmmmm interesting.

CHOP SUGAR SNAPS SMALL AND ADD TO CELERY

CHOP CHICORY AND GRATE RAW BEETROOT AND ADD TO CELERY AND SUGAR SNAPS.BEETROOT IS  KNOWN AS A SUPER ROOT, ITS GREAT FOR THE HEART AND TONING THE BLOOD, ITS MENTIONED IN THE MEDICINE OF THE PROPHET(SALAH LA ALAIHI WA SALAM)

FINELY CHOPPED WASHED  MINT,CHIVES AND CORRIANDER AND ADD

BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO CUT THE AVOCADO , JUICE A LEMON OTHERWISE THE  AVOCADO WILL GO BROWN WHILE YOU ARE JUICING THE LEMON

FOODS OF THE NOBLE QURAN ADN SUNNAH-LEMON – UTTRUJJ (citron)

Lemon is mentioned in the Medicine of the Prophet , salah la alaihi wa salem, in relation to sugar cane-QASAB AL SUKKAR. it  states that the juice of lemon, orange or plum pomegranate  repels the harmful effects of the sugar cane.

Lemon is also part of the citrus family. All citrus fruits; lemon, orange, limes, grapefruits, tangerines, clematines etc consists of four part; peel, pulp, flesh and seeds. Each one of these pieces has  its own temperament.

The peel keeps moths away  from clothes and its scents the air. It sweetens breathe in the mouth and when added to food aids digestion. Its flesh soften the stomach and aids those  of a bilious temperament.

The pulp awakens the appetite for food so for those of us trying to put weight on, this could be a solution inshallah.

The Prophet salah alaihi wa salem said ” The believer  who recites the Quran is likened to the utrujj; its taste is good, its scent is good” SAHIH BUKHARI AT’IMA 30

ADD THE AVOCADO THEN TEH LEMON JUICE AND TOSS, STORE IN THE FRIDGE TO CHILL,

SERVE WITH TOASTED SESAME SEEDS, THIS SALAD HAS SO MANY ISLAMIC FOODS IN SO ITS REALLY GOOD FOR YOU ON SO MANY LEVELS…..AND I NEARLY THREW IT AWAY! THE COMBINATION OF THE HERBS AND LEMON JUICE IS AMAZING , SO FRESH AND LIGHT!
