CAMDEN MARKET

By Karimah bint Dawoud, Muslim Chaplain and Fashionista

It was a nice sunny day and a sister and I decide to take a trip to Camden in order to look for Eid presents. It’s easy to get distract up there, it’s a fashionista’s haven and a tattoo artist paradise.

MULTI COLOURED HOODIE,BRIGHT AND BOLD,

There used to be a man by Superdrug that sold boxes and boxes of Calvin Klein underpants and that was on our list, for our brothers, but he’s not here anymore. We hunted up and down, asked police security guards and eventually one of his friends, she told us that was ages ago…shows how long it’s been since we went shopping to Camden.

Lured into his Nepalese stall we were hypnotised by these bright long hoodies, wonderful if I was 18 , a  nasheed artist or a fairy but I am neither, attention seeker yes, I just wouldn’t get the wear out of it but I know a pixie sistar that would mashallah, so guided by the sensible sistar with me I settle for this green and black stripe……green is the new black or my winter colour anyway and part of the winter colour story, most importantly; one of the prophet Muhammad’s (salah alaihi wa salem) favourite colours and a good colour for the heart chakra…mine need healing.

I wish we had more time to browse around up there, great ideas and things I could ask my tailor to make but in other colours like  ruched harem pants that double up as playsuit boob tube and pants combine, looks great with high heels and bracelet for a sisters only party and putting a bit of spice in your married life.

salama ,good blog, i used to have a stall in camden market years ago, so i know it well, prefer pastal colours, but i have never liked green ,sorry to put a dampner on that colour, also the phrophet liked all colours, never seen the evidence to say green was his best, i hear this from many people, but my statement comes from a lecture i once attended from what the sheik told us
    take care salama
